About iTown
iTown brings the benefits of the real information superhighway to cities and towns outside major population centers across America. Working in public-private partnership with local leaders who seek to obtain information age benefits for their communitiees, iTown will build and operate public-use fiber optic networks of near limitless capacity directly to all homes, businesses, government offices, and educational and other institutions. Our goal is to bring economical, state-of-the-art, services to our target locations by spreading the cost of the community public-use network across all communication and entertainment services and spreading ongoing operational costs across multiple local networks.

iTown's local community public-use network is founded on the principle of openness. First the community public-use network will reach out to all community premises. Second, it is available to all service providers who desire to transport services over state-of-the-art optical transmission paths - incumbents as well as new service providers including telecommunications, video, internet, data and other services. Third, we provide the internet, video and voice services to customers where competitive services are not now available.

Lastly, the iTown public-use network provides open choice for residential and business customers to select all the current and future services they desire from the service providers that meet their needs.

Service Is Our Focus
iTown is first and foremost a service company. We work collaboratively with local community leaders and customers. We support service providers that use our network. By combining a motivated, responsive workforce, a strong service ethic, and state-of-the-art network and systems technology, iTown delivers high quality, reliable, friendly service to all customers using the community network.

Markets
iTown provides residents and businesses the opportunity to obtain services which until now have been generally limited to big cities. We are targeting cities as large as 125,000 in population and towns as small as 5,000 that are part of a larger area of economic interest that also desires to share the benefits of a community public-use network. As the need to communicate has grown, many of these communities find themselves on the wrong side of the digital divide. iTown is the means to eliminate the divide.

Technology
iTown deploys optical fiber to residential and business premises (FTTP). Our focus is on bringing state-of-the-art services to homes, businesses, government agencies, schools and other institutions in the community. Our public-use network connects to each premise with a network interface device that allows connection and use of existing telephones, computers and televisions as they are currently used for voice, internet and pay television services, but it is "future-ready" for the delivery of advanced services like home monitoring, gaming, interactive tv, etc. The network will be reliable and safe. It is remotely monitored so that we generally see any problems before our customers do. iTown's fiber optic network will provide each resident and business a long lived physical connection to an ever advancing world of new services.

Products and Services
The core product of iTown is an all-in-one access service directly to end-user customers that has sufficient transmission capacity to support all services today and tomorrow.

For service providers, whether incumbents or new entrants, iTown provides new, state-of-the-art, reliable, digital transport between their point-of-presence on the community public-use network and all end-users.

Some communities may have difficulty attracting suppliers that offer a broader choice of services. iTown actively recruits companies to connect to community public-use networks, but also provides high speed internet access service, voice and video services in the absence of more robust choices for the community.

The new community public-use network built and operated by iTown will support the following services:

  • Hundreds of video channels
  • Video on demand
  • Real-time interactive gaming
  • HDTV
  • Interactive distance learning
  • Ultra high speed internet
  • Home monitoring and energy management
  • Telemedicine
  • Traffic monitoring
  • Many others
