There are many factors involved in deciding to build a Local Community Public-Use Network. Key among them for iTown is a strong commitment from public officials to support and encourage use of the network. We are seeking partners who see the LCPN as an essential infrastructure; who desire to use the network to further economic and community development; who want to leverage its use to deliver improved educational and government services; and who see value in sharing in the benefits of a public-private partnership.

In discussing the potential for a project in your area, we will ask many questions such as:

  • What interest level exists within the community for an LCPN?
  • What specific current needs are unmet by existing technology and services?
  • What economic development plans do you have that will leverage the LCPN's capabilities in future years?
  • Are you prepared to commit to purchasing your local jurisdiction's communications services from service providers that use the LCPN?
  • How will your local government make maximum use of the LCPN for administrative, public safety, security and service delivery to your constituents?
  • What plans do you have for advancing education by leveraging the capabilities an LCPN provides?
  • What ongoing support will you provide to assist members of your community in taking full advantage of the capabilities and services available via the LCPN?
  • For state officials, what role does advanced broadband infrastructure play in your state's development program, and how will you support local communities in their efforts to establish this infrastructure?
If you know the answer to some of these questions or are just beginning to ask them, contact us at publicprivatepartnership@itowncom.net
